Worship in School

As a Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary school, Worship is very important to everyone here.

We are committed to offering high quality collective worship. Collective worship is central to fostering a sense of community and to expressing the school’s Christian vision and values.

We recognise that not all staff or children have a Christian faith. We welcome everyone to Collective Worship and offer it as a shared space for reflection and spiritual growth where our communities grow together in love and respect.

Collective worship gives pupils and school staff the opportunity to:

  • Strengthen the school community recognising that each individual is unique
  • Foster respect and deepen spiritual awareness.
  • Express praise and thanksgiving to God.
  • Be still and reflect.
  • Explore big questions and respond to current events.
  • Reflect on the character of God and on the teachings of Christ.
  • Focus on Christian Values and how these can be put into practise
  • Share each other's joys and challenges.
  • Celebrate special times in the Christian calendar.
  • Be active global neighbours, who respond with compassion and are courageous advocates

Our weekly Worship and Assembly rota is as follows:

  • Monday:          There is a focus on the value of this half term (Whole school)

  • Tuesday:         Pupils gather together in class to reflect on the weekly ‘Picture News’

  • Wednesday:    Worship through songs related to our half termly value and events in the Christian calendar (In Key Stages)

  • Thursday:        A ‘walk through the Bible’ telling the stories from a children’s Bible in chronological order (Whole school)

  • Friday:             Visiting speakers or Pupil led assemblies (Whole School)

Global Neighbours - Bronze Award

In 2025 the school was accredited with the Global Neighbours Bronze award - this accreditation scheme is verified by the Church of England Education Office.

To achieve accreditation, we  demonstrated how we are fulfilling criteria relating to:school leadership
  • teaching and learning
  • collective worship and spiritual development
  • pupil participation in active global citizenship
  • community engagement

How will the scheme benefit our school?

Global Neighbours provides a framework for thinking about global citizenship education in schools. With ideas for curriculum and collective worship activities to weave a global perspective into our current curriculum provision, to support our children to become active global citizens.

The scheme aims to increase pupils’ understanding of the root causes of poverty and injustice, as well as engage and empower pupils as agents of change in the transformation of our world. Participation in the scheme supports us to advance the Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development of pupils, strengthen the ‘promotion of fundamental British values’, promote critical thinking across the curriculum, and strengthen links with the local community. Global Neighbours can also enhance our Religious Education provision by increasing pupils’ knowledge and understanding about why and how Christians, along with people of other faiths and those of no faith, want to change the world to one where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty.

By helping pupils to claim their voice as global citizens, participation in the scheme will support us develop and showcase our work in helping the children to become active global citizens and courageous advocates for change in the world, from a local to global level.

In addition, the scheme will help our school fulfil the Church of England’s Vision for Education that is ‘deeply Christian, serving the common good’ as well as supporting some of the SIAMS requirements for character development: hope, aspiration and courageous advocacy.

Worship outside School

We have very close links with St Michael’s Church in Framlingham and hold various services there during the year, including Harvest, Easter and Christmas. We also use the Church for Whole School Assemblies each half term. The year 6 Leaver’s service takes place in the Church.
